A little about me…

WholeSelf; is a collaboration of incredible practitioners, coaches and facilitators specialising in a range of therapeutic modalities.

And this is me! Liz, the founder of WholeSelf.

I am a Coach, Mindfulness Teacher, Yoga Teacher, trainer and facilitator. But first and foremost, I am a human being. A human being that has struggled and suffered, and because of the fight through that struggle, has found myself with a wealth of education, knowledge and tools that support me, and maybe, will support you too.

Which leads me to my why, a little about me, and how I got here!.

I hold a Masters in Psychological Interventions from University College Dublin (MSc), a BSc in Sport Science and Media, Irish History and Literature from St Mary's College, London. I also studied as a Paediatric nurse at City University, London.

As well as being the founder of WholeSelf, I work with The Game Plan (www.thegameplan.ie) as a Development & Leadership Coach and Cultural Change Facilitator. I also work as a Coach and Facilitator, on Coventry's University's MBA Professional Development Programme.

I am a qualified Menstrual Leadership Awareness Facilitator, having trained with The Red School, and I have a deep passion for, and knowledge of Menstrual Cycle Awareness. It is incredibly powerful education that has hugely benefited my own health and how I am able to show up in the world.

I am constantly learning and expanding my knowledge of all things human (mostly!). Currently I am studying an in-depth training in Neuroscience and Coaching under the supervision of Dr Sarah McKay and Dr Mary Collins.

I also worked for many years within Canine Behaviour and training. Educating and empowering individuals to foster better connections with their dogs, through a better understanding of themselves, how stress affects both humans and dogs on a physiological and psychological level, and an ability to realise their own power, body language and energy - it really isn’t too different to some of the work I do without dogs!

Animals, nature, our connectivity and oneness, are hugely important to me, and, I believe, integral to living at our highest capabilities.

All of the work I do, has been formed from my own lived experience, my own suffering and struggle. The knowledge and tools I have gained throughout my life, the teachings I have absorbed in coming to understand myself and my pain, so that I may live a life of contentment rather than simply surviving, everything I share, I have lived, and continue to live.

I know personally the impact and effect of the work I do, as it is hugely personal and experiential, and has been foundational in my own recovery and healing.

Childhood was at times very difficult and turbulent. From an early age I was (mis)diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety, and was in an out of a Westernised prescriptive health system that sought to medicate rather than get to the root cause. There has been a lifetime of struggling with my ‘mental health’, as well as a 20-year eating disorder, addictions, and various other trauma, including losing my Dad suddenly at 21. Throughout it all, and because of it, I have gained phenomenal experience of this sometimes challenging human experience we can all live through.

Living in a chronically stressed state for such a long period of life led to a decimated nervous system, many further chronic illnesses, and a lot of learning and unlearning had to happen in order to facilitate a recovery and begin to thrive rather than simply surviving.

An in depth education in psychology, neuroscience, mindfulness, yoga, the power of the breath, menstrual cycle awareness, and many other disciplines, has provided me with an enormous arsenal of tools which I am passionate to share, so that others may come into a closer understanding of themselves, build resilience and thrive, in whatever aspect of their life they wish to.

I am hugely passionate about working with anyone who wants to understand themselves more deeply, and those who maybe haven’t found answers for their wellbeing within westernised prescriptive approaches.

I have come to hold vast experience in many modalities as well as now working alongside some incredible colleagues, from whom I am constantly learning, as well as referring, if they can provide greater insight on any given topic for an individual or organisation that choses to work with me.

A self confessed behaviour nerd, and an avid learner, my super powers lie in my humanity, my openness, and my ability to see people deeply without judgment, and hold space for it all. These gifts, combined with an incredible range of experience in both life and business, as well as a huge smile and masses of fun, has enabled me to become someone who is able to initiate, ignite, and inspire a great deal from those who work with me.
