8-Week Mindfulness Course
This 8-Week, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), is an intensive, but gentle training in Mindfulness. The course provides training in Mindfulness, Meditation and awareness practices, which have been scientifically proven to reduce stress and increase well-being for people with a wide range of concerns. It was developed by Dr Jon Kabat Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
This MBSR curriculum is one of the most researched and evidence based courses available, proven to help with a multitude of chronic conditions such as anxiety/depression/chronic pain/addictive and unhelpful behaviours, amongst many others. The course allows participants to find their own inner resources for living life with more ease and more resilience.
This is a small group course, that will provide an opportunity for a safe, non-judgemental, supportive space, where participants can gain life changing tools and learnings, surrounded by other like minded individuals.
Although sometimes daunting to join a group of people not known to us - feedback time and time again, is of how hugely beneficial a sense of community, and belonging is. There is a huge amount of comfort, healing, and power, in knowing that we are all very similar beings, and not alone in our struggles or suffering.
Although this course can be very therapeutic, it is not therapy, and participants are guided to only share within the group setting as much or as little as they want.
The course is facilitated by Liz Moreton, an experienced Mindfulness teacher and coach, with a Masters in Psychological Interventions from University College Dublin.
Prior to the course Liz will arrange an orientation phone call with you. As this is an intensive course in Mindfulness and meditation it is important that you understand fully what will be involved. This call will help you to ascertain if it is the right course for you, and if it is the right time for you to do it.
There is a home practice commitment of at least 30 minutes a day for the duration of the course. You will be given a handbook and guided audios to support you in your participation.
The group will meet over the course of 8 Weeks on a Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm. Classes will run for 2 hours on Zoom. Each week will cover a different topic, and you will be guided through meditations, discussions, and reflections, all equipping you with the tools you need to leave the course living with greater ease, awareness, resilience and compassion.
Mindfulness helps us to wake up to our present moment experience instead of being lost in the past, often in regret, or in the future, often in worry or obsessive planning.
